Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher explains how Wayne Rooney and Paul Pogba can play together

Gary Neville believes Paul Pogba and Wayne Rooney could form a dynamic attacking combination for Manchester United when the duo play together for the first time in the Premier League. 

Wayne needs to settle in to the latter phase of his career position and he thought that would be in midfield,” stated Neville on his return to the Sky Sports Monday Night football studio. 

“Jose Mourinho has thrown a spanner in the works and said he wanted him to play further forward. 

“What I would say is the four big chances Man Utd had (against Bournemouth) were his. The one thing that will shut everyone up will be goals. 

“I don’t think he will play centre-forward any more. I think Pogba and Rooney can play well together in front of a holding midfielder.” 

When Paul Pogba comes into this team, he is a box to box player. I think that could be a fantastic partnership going forward for Man Utd,” he said. 

“They could switch positions, with Pogba in the No.10 role at times and Rooney filling in for him deeper. I think this could be a bonus for United.”
