Arsenal in talks over deal for Bayern Munich defender Medhi Benatia

Arsenal have begun negotiations over a deal for Bayern Munich defender Medhi Benatia, according to reports. 

Benatia is looking for a way out of the Allianz Arena this summer after falling down the pecking order. 

However, with the German champions completing the signing of Borussia Dortmund captain Mats Hummels, the 29-year-old is now deemed surplus to requirements. 

As a result, Arsenal are ready to pounce for the Moroccan and believe he could be available at a cut price. 

Arsene Wenger is a long-term fan of the centre-back and tried to sign him during his time with Roma. 

Arsenal missed out then to Bayern, but they are now ready to finally land Benatia.
