Chelsea coach Antonio Conte interested in signing Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly

Chelsea are preparing a bid for Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly as they aim to overhaul their defence under in-coming boss Antonio Conte. 

Antonio Conte is understood to be a fan of Kalidou Koulibaly having watching him closely in Serie A. 

The Italian sees the 24-year-old as a long-term replacement to Chelsea captain John Terry. 

John Terry signed a new one-year deal this week but is likely to have to settle for a back-up role next season with Conte keen to bring in another centre-half. 

According to Sky Sport Italia, Conte has already sounded out Koulibaly's agent about the opportunity to move to Stamford Bridge this summer and the 46-year-old will make his signing a top priority when he takes over at the club in July. 

The Senegalese international played an integral part in helping Napoli finish second in the league this season.
