Everton midfielder Gareth Barry has set a new Premier League record by starting more games than any other player.
Former Portsmouth goalkeeper David James had held the record with 571 starts in the Premier League.
But with Gareth Barry named in Everton’s starting XI for Wednesday’s clash with Sunderland, the 35-year-old has set a new benchmark in the Premier League.
The midfielder, who has been capped 53 times for England, made his Premier League debut for Aston Villa in 1998.
Barry joined Manchester City in a £12 million deal in 2009 and went on to win the Premier League and the FA Cup during his four seasons at the Etihad Stadium.
