Napoli set to offer Chelsea target Gonzalo Higuain new deal

Italian outfit Napoli are ready to offer Gonzalo Higuain a new contract - in an attempt to ward off interest from the Premier League. 

Higuain has enjoyed a stunning year in Italy, scoring 36 times to break the record for the most goals scored in Serie A in a single season. 

Premier League duo Arsenal and Chelsea are now eyeing a move for the Argentina international, who will have two years to run on his contract. 

But, according to Gazzetta dello Sport, Napoli will hold talks with Higuain to extend that deal until 2020. 

The Italian club are ready to offer the 28-year-old a contract which would be worth over £100,000-a-week, making him one of the best paid players in Italy.
