Spaniard Rafael Nadal has made a shock withdrawal from the French Open after developing a problem in his left wrist.
Rafael Nadal made the stunning announcement on Friday while wearing a blue sleeve over his wrist and forearm, saying that he had initially felt the injury during the quarter final of the Madrid Open three weeks ago.
The nine-time champion believes that there is a tear in the sheath of his wrist and that results of an MRI scan were 'not postitive.'
"This is a very bad day for me, one of the toughest press conferences I have had to do,' said the Spaniard, looking close to tears.
However, his wrist is not broken but he believes there would have been a risk of breaking it had he played on in a tournament he has dominated for so much of his career.
