A Welsh town is to change its name to Y Bale in homage to Wales' star player ahead of today's huge Euro 2016 showdown against England.

Bala announced the move to throw its support Gareth Bale and the Welsh squad by making the change, which will be just for one day.

The local weekly paper, Y Cyfnod, revealed the news on Thursday, and the last letter on the four main signs to Bala will be changed for the day.
This is the normal town name
Councillor Dilwyn Morgan, who represents Bala in Gwynedd council, said he was "100% behind the move".

He added: “I think it’s a brilliant idea. "It’s a great way to honour Gareth Bale and get behind the Welsh squad for Euro 2016. Gareth Bale is an international sporting star, and this move should put Bala, sorry, Bale, on the international map."
