Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho agrees date for Wayne Rooney’s testimonial

New Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has given his approval for Wayne Rooney’s testimonial to go ahead as planned on August 3 at Old Trafford. 

Rooney will play his old club Everton in a fully competitive fixture just four days ahead of the Community Shield clash with Leicester. 

Louis van Gaal initially refused to commit to the date because of fears they would be playing in a Europa League qualifier. 

But after talks between Rooney and Mourinho this weekend, the latter has given the all clear for the game to be played on August 3
