Wenger delivers latest Arsenal injury update

Arsenal coach Arsene Wenger has revealed that Alexis Sanchez’s ankle injury is “not too bad” but confirmed that the attacker will miss Arsenal’s pre-season tour to the United States. 

Sanchez suffered a nasty-looking ankle injury from a heavy tackle in the Copa America final and has posted various updates on social media to reveal the extent of the problem. 

However, Arsenal boss Wenger has moved to play down fears about Sanchez’s fitness levels. 

The Frenchman did, however, confirm that he would be allowing the attacker some additional time off to recuperate from a gruelling season and that he will miss the tour to the US. 

Wenger also confirmed defender Per Metersacker will be out for a few months with a knee injury.
