Thierry Henry has a solution to Arsenal’s search for a striker

Thierry Henry believes that Arsenal’s striking problem could be solved by playing Alexis Sanchez behind Olivier Giroud for Arsenal. 

Arsenal have been linked with a host of attacking players this summer and have tabled failed bids to sign both Jamie Vardy and Alexandre Lacazette in recent months. 

However,it remains to be seen whether the gunners will bring in any new attacking talent before the close of the transfer window at the end of the month. 

Arsenal Legend Henry feels that Sanchez and Giroud could to the business up front for the Gunners if Wenger opts not to bring in a new striker this summer. 

Speaking in an interview with Sky Sports, Henry said: 

“People are calling for a striker, but I wonder if it would be a good situation if Sanchez could play behind Giroud. 

“We saw at Euro 2016 what Giroud can do when someone is close to him. I don’t mean a number 10, I mean a number nine; someone who can run in behind. 

“Giroud is very good in the air, but if he plays with Mesut Ozil he stays underneath him. You saw with France what Giroud can do when he has a guy like Antoine Griezmann who can run behind and beyond him.” 

Arsenal fans have been crying out for a big-name signing this summer but Wenger has thus far only recruited Granit Xhaka, Takuma Asano,Rob Holding and Kelechi Nwakali.
