Arsene Wenger warns Arsenal fans about new signing

Arsene Wenger has warned Arsenal fans to give new signing Lucas Perez time to adapt to the rigours of English football after his transfer to the north London club this summer. 

Lucas Perez made his first appearance of the season for the gunners on Saturday as he helped Arsenal secure a 2-1 win over Southampton at The Emirates. 

Perez started the game but did not find the net as goals from Laurent Koscielny and Santi Cazorla wrapped up victory for the Gunners. 

Wenger believes that the new Arsenal signing will need some time to adapt to life at The Emirates and has told Gunners fans not to expect too much too soon. 

Speaking in an interview with Arsenal’s website, Wenger said: 

“I think he got 17 goals last year. In the second half, I think he combined much better. It is not easy as well to start at home, the pressure is there for everybody and everybody has their eyes on them. 

“You could see that especially with Mustafi, because in the second half he was much more comfortable than in the first. 

“Let’s give [Lucas] time. We have scored goals since the start of the season, but we bought one more striker because we thought we needed one more let’s give him time and not judge him too quickly.”
