Harry Kane is set to miss two months with an ankle injury, making him doubtful for England’s World Cup qualifier against Scotland at Wembley on November 11.

Two scans on Monday showed there was no fracture but the Tottenham striker has suffered ligament damage.

Tottenham are concerned it will fall into the category of grade two damage, which would normally rule out a player for six to eight weeks.

Kane was hurt making a tackle on Sunderland’s Papy Djilobodji late in Sunday’s 1-0 victory at White Hart Lane.

His right foot twisted under his body-weight, the ankle buckled and the 23-year-old, having scored the only goal of the game, was carried off on a stretcher.

The striker left the stadium on crutches, wearing a protective boot.

Kane’s injury will lead to an opportunity for Vincent Janssen, the 22-year-old signed for £18.5million from AZ Alkmaar in the summer.
