Manchester United are monitoring Atletico Madrid defender Jose Gimenez with a view to making a bid, according to the Daily Mirror.
Gimenez has adapted impressively to European football since joining Atletico from Danubio in 2013, regularly partnering first-choice centre-back Diego Godin.
Mourinho is reportedly unconvinced Daley Blind is a long-term solution in defence and could subsequently sanction a bid to bring in the Uruguay international to play alongside Eric Bailly.
