Tottenham coach Mauricio Pochettino has admitted he is still unsure how long star striker Harry Kane will be out injured as his ankle swelling remains too severe for an accurate scan.

An initial test on Monday revealed ligament damage but Pochettino claims he will need another scan next week before they can ascertain the seriousness of the problem.

Harry Kane suffered the injury against Sunderland last Sunday, but Pochettino said they still needed ‘a few days’ before they can do a second scan as the swelling on the joint is too significant.

Provisional estimates suggested Kane will be out for two months, but Pochettino said on Friday:
"We need to assess him every day but we are waiting for another scan and then we can assess much better and know how long will be his recovery.

"There is still swelling so we need to wait a few days."
However, if the early predictions for a six to eight-week lay-off prove accurate, Kane will miss Tottenham’s Champions League group games against CSKA Moscow and Bayer Leverkusen as well as possible league games against Manchester City, Leicester City and Arsenal.
