Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany will undergo further tests this weekend after being diagnosed with muscle fatigue in his groin.
Kompany left the pitch in stoppage time of City's 2-1 victory against Swansea City in the EFL Cup on Wednesday, in what was his first appearance since picking up a thigh problem back in May.
The defender missed much of last season with calf problems and it was feared that he had suffered a recurrence at the Liberty Stadium.
But it is believed his latest problem concerns his groin, although the full extent of the damage is not yet known.
He will be assessed in the coming days as the club try to ascertain how long he will spend on the sidelines.
Kompany missed 36 games in all competitions through injury last season after suffering a number of breakdowns.
