Italian outfit Lazio are preparing to offer defender Stefan de Vrij a new contract but Chelsea may still look to take advantage of a potential release clause, according to Il Messaggero .
Stefan de Vrij has struggled with injury over the last season but still came under Antonio Conte's consideration during his summer hunt for a new recruit at the back.
Though the Blues eventually signed David Luiz on deadline day, they are reportedly still monitoring De Vrij and could look to take advantage of a proposed £30.8 million release clause that would be part of the 24-year-old's deal.
