Pep Guardiola demanding high standards from his Manchester City players

Pep Guardiola has warned Manchester City's players to meet his high standards or pay the price and admitted that he will walk away from the job if he cannot do the same. 

Guardiola said his team were so tired after Wednesday's Champions League draw at Celtic that they could not talk, but rejected claims from midfielder Fernandinho that it is difficult for them to maintain the level of intensity he demands. 

'I don't accept that,' said Guardiola ahead of Sunday's top-of-the-table clash with Tottenham. 

'I wouldn't be happy. I want it to be the principle in all of our games. When it doesn't happen the opponent is good. 

'That's why the players have to take care of themselves in their private life, sleep well, eat well, because the way we play is so demanding.
