Gareth Southgate is set to be appointed the England manager on a permanent basis – but only if the Three Lions beat Scotland in November.
According to the Daily Mirror who claim Football Association chiefs have been hugely impressed with Southgate, despite England’s disappointing draw in Slovenia on Tuesday.
The Football Association are said to be pleased with the 46-year-old's handling of the Wayne Rooney situation as well as his decisiveness in making the huge call to drop the England captain.
Gareth Southgate could be officially appointed if he can mastermind a victory over Scotland in a World Cup qualifier next month.
