Jose Mourinho hints Anthony Martial is running out of chances to impress him

Anthony Martial has been told he faces a major battle to reclaim his Manchester United place. 

The France International, a surprise £36million deadline-day signing in August 2015, has endured a difficult second season after scoring 17 goals in his debut campaign. 

The 20-year-old was left out of United’s squad altogether for the 4-0 Europa League win over Feyenoord on Thursday, with boss Jose Mourinho claiming he has failed to take the chances he has been given. 

Martial, who has scored just once from open play all season and has also lost his place with France, is set to be sidelined again for Sunday's home match against West Ham. 

And Mourinho has told the forward, whose overall transfer fee could eventually rise to £58m, that he needs to show greater focus and hunger if he is to force his way back into his plans. 

“You have one opportunity, you have two, you have three,” said the Portuguese. 

“If you don’t bite, then somebody else comes in and takes the bait.
