Jurgen Klopp gives injury updates on Liverpool stars

Liverpool coach Jurgen Klopp has revealed Adam Lallana is closing in on a return to training but believes the Reds will be without Daniel Sturridge, Roberto Firmino and Philippe Coutinho for their clash against Leeds. 

Lallana has been out of action since injuring his groin on international duty with England in early November. 

The 28-year-old was in great form before his injury and Klopp’s pain has been compounded by Coutinho’s injury against Sunderland on Saturday. 

And, while Lallana is not expected to be fit for Tuesday’s EFL Cup clash with Leeds, Klopp has revealed he’s close to a return while the German has ruled out Sturridge and Coutinho from the clash.  

"Adam is close to being back in training but he won’t be ready,’ said Klopp. 

"Daniel isn’t in training and we will have to wait on Firmino. We will have to see how he is after training today."
