Michael Carrick set to start in EFL Cup clash with West Ham

Michael Carrick is expected to feature for Manchester United on Wednesday night, meaning Bastian Schweinsteiger could have to wait for his dramatic first-team comeback.

Many thought Schweinsteiger would therefore be in line for a start in the EFL Cup when the same opposition rock up at Old Trafford especially given Paul Pogba and Marouane Fellaini are suspended. 

Carrick is ready to face his old club if required by Mourinho after missing Sunday. 

Schweinsteiger, meanwhile, was told over the summer that he had no future at United even after he returned to the first-team fold earlier this month.
