The young Afghan boy who went viral after an image of him wearing a homemade Lionel Messi jersey fashioned from a plastic bag has finally met his hero.
An image of Murtaza Ahmadi wearing a white and blue striped bag with Messi and a number 10 scrawled on the back caught the imagination of the world when it spread online.
The young lad was tracked down and today he met the Barcelona star.
A tweet of the meeting was accompanied with the words:
‘The image the world wanted to see. The six-year-old boy who dreamed of meeting his hero, #Messi, finally comes true.’
The pair were united in Qatar, where Barcelona are due to play a match against Al Ahli.
In addition to meeting his hero, Ahmadi, who now lives in Pakistan, is due to walk out on to the pitch with Messi for the friendly game.
