I was wrong to play Sanchez as a striker in the past - Arsene Wenger

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger had admitted he was wrong to get Alexis Sanchez to play as a striker in previous seasons but feels the player’s developments has seen his adapt to the position. 

Sanchez’s form in the striker position is in stark contrast to his previous efforts in the role over the last couple of years with Sanchez even forced from the pitch by Wenger on one occasion following a particularly poor showing. 

And Wenger has now confessed that experiments to feature Sanchez as a lone-striker haven’t worked before but the South American’s work on his game have permitted him to grow into an effective forward. 

Wenger told the club’s official website: “He has developed very well as a centre forward because he has found a good mixture between coming short and going in behind.
