Paul Merson states his prediction for Manchester City vs Arsenal clash

Paul Merson is expecting Arsenal and Manchester City to play out a 1-1 draw at The Etihad in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon. 

Arsenal head into the game looking to return to winning ways after the disappointment of their 2-1 loss to Everton at Goodison Park in midweek. 

Manchester City, meanwhile, beat Watford to return to winning ways following their defeat by Leicester City last weekend. 

Arsenal will be keen to get their title bid back on track and keep pace with Chelsea at the top of the table. 

City have already been beaten by the likes of Chelsea and Leicester this season, and Arsenal star Merson is expecting to see a 1-1 draw between the two sides this weekend. 

Writing in his column for Sky Sports, Merson said: 

“I cannot pick this one. It is so hard. A draw is no good for either side, really, and both have to go for it, which might mean they cancel each other out. 

“Arsenal couldn’t cope with the tempo of Everton on Tuesday night, but Man City won’t play like that this weekend. It all depends what Pep Guardiola does. 

"In the last big game, he changed his formation to match Chelsea and they had a enough chances to win that. 

“Both teams are capable of winning this 3-0. I am sitting on the fence here.”
