Antonio Di Natale brought an end to his 12-year stay at Udinese on Sunday night and admitted to letting his emotions get the better of him in the dressing-room.
After making 447 appearances since joining from Empoli in 2004, the 38-year-old signed off by scoring a penalty after coming on as a substitute in the final 12 minutes of the 2-1 defeat by Carpi.
It marked only his second goal of an injury-hit campaign, but his 227th for the club in all competitions.
Speaking to Sky Sport Italia after the game, the striker shared his emotions on the end of an era:
"I think in the end 12 years was a great journey together"I want to thank my team-mates and the club, everyone who was with me during this time."I hurt myself in training, but I wanted to play those 20 minutes and the doctors allowed me to do it."Until yesterday I was relaxed, but when I sat in the locker room tonight I was crying like a baby. I saw 12 years flash before my eyes."
The former Italy International has yet to call time on his playing career.
