Arsenal close to completing £34million deal for 23-year-old midfielder

Arsenal have submitted a £34m bid for Borussia Monchengladbach captain Granit Xhaka, according to widespread reports in Germany. 

Arsene Wenger is expected to splash the cash this summer following a disappointing season and has made midfielder Xhaka his first target. 

Arsenal have been heavily linked with the Switzerland international since January and have now firmed up their interest by submitting up a mega offer. 

Xhaka is understood to be keen on a switch to the Premier League and Arsenal's offer will be enough to persuade Monchengladbach to sell. 

The 23-year-old has been a pivotal figure for the Bundesliga club since he joined from Basel in 2012.
