Manchester United interested in signing £30m-rated Roma defender Kostas Manolas

Manchester United have held talks with Roma defender Kostas Manolas, according to reports in Italy. 

Kostas Manolas has been outstanding for the Italian club since he joined them from Olympiakos two years ago and is now on the radar of a number of Premier League clubs. 

Chelsea and Everton have also expressed an interest in the 24-year-old but United are clear front-runners in the race to sign him having reportedly met his representatives. 

According to Sky Italia, Manchester United are prepared to match Roma's £30.3m asking price and a deal could be struck once incoming manager Jose Mourinho gives his final approval. 

The Italian outfit are reluctant to part with the highly-rated Manolas but the prospect of making a huge profit on the centre-back, having paid Olympiakos just £10m for him, is too good to turn down.
