Joe Allen on verge of securing £13.5m switch from Liverpool to Stoke City

Joe Allen is on the brink of ending his Liverpool career after he was given permission to undergo a medical at Stoke. 

The midfielder has been the subject of speculation all summer, given that Liverpool have refused to enter into contract negotiations and it had looked like he would return to Swansea. 

However, with Swansea reluctant to offer more than £8million for Allen – whom they sold to Liverpool for £15million in 2012 – Stoke stole a march last Wednesday and gazumped them with an offer of £13.5million. 

Negotiations have been on-going ever since and Allen, who has not been on the United States tour, now seems destined to end up at the Britannia Stadium, providing there are no last-minute complications.
