Martin Demichelis set for Espanyol move after Manchester City release

Martin Demichelis is set to sign a contract at Espanyol following his release from Manchester City. 

The defender departed the club after coming to the end of his one-year contract extension, ending his three-year spell in Manchester. 

Demichelis made a total of 78 Premier League appearances and was part of the squad which won the title in dramatic fashion back in 2014. 

But the former Malaga and Atletico Madrid man is now heading back to Spain, according to AS. 

The 35-year-old has been in talks with Espanyol for some time and is close to signing a permanent contract with the club.
