Arsene Wenger delivers latest Arsenal injury update after Southampton win

Arsene Wenger has revealed that Laurent Koscielny has picked up a nasty face injury during Saturday’s dramatic 2-1 win over Southampton at The Emirates. 

The gunners came from a goal down to earn a victory against the Saints in north London thanks to goals from Koscielny and Santi Cazorla’s stoppage-time penalty. 

Koscielny required treatment late on in the game after suffering a blow to the head during the game at The Emirates but Arsenal won their late penalty while the defender was down. 

Speaking after the game, Wenger admitted that he was waiting to learn the extent of the problem suffered by the French centre-half. 

Wenger told his post-match news conference: 

“Koscielny has a problem with his face. He’s with the doctor now. I haven’t spoken to him yet, but it is very swollen.” 

The Gunners will be hoping that his issue is not serious as Arsenal now turn their attentions towards their Champions League group-stage opener against Paris Saint-Germain at Parc des Princes on Tuesday night.
