Michael Owen states his prediction for Swansea vs Chelsea clash

Chelsea will underline their status as genuine title contenders with victory over Swansea City at Liberty Stadium on Sunday afternoon, according to Michael Owen. 

The blues have recorded three successive Premier League victories under their new manager Antonio Conte after the Italian took over the reins at Stamford Bridge earlier this summer. 

Conte has bolstered his Chelsea squad with five new signings in the summer transfer window, including the £32m arrival of Brazil defender David Luiz from Paris Saint-Germain. 

Chelsea have already beaten West Ham United, Watford and Burnley in an impressive start to the new Premier League season ahead of their trip to South Wales in Sunday’s game. 

Former Liverpool and Manchester United striker Owen believes the omens point to a possible title success for Conte’s Chelsea side this season ahead of their Liberty Stadium clash. 

“One interesting stat ahead of the game at the Liberty Stadium: in each of their title winning seasons, Chelsea won their opening four games of the Premier League campaign (2004/05, 2005/06, 2009/10 and 2014/15),” Owen told BetVictor. 

“In case you have forgotten Chelsea have won all three PL games so far and I have been impressed with Antonio Conte’s side; they must be considered genuine title contenders after last season’s blip.”
