Arsene Wenger to decide on new signings ahead of PSG vs Arsenal clash

Arsene Wenger has admitted that both Shkodran Mustafi and Lucas Perez could be involved in Arsenal’s Champions League opener against Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday night. 

The pair were both handed their Arsenal debuts on Saturday afternoon and tasted victory in their first appearances as the north London side came from a goal down to secure a dramatic win over Southampton at The Emirates. 

Arsenal must now quickly turn their attentions towards European affairs and their Group A opener at Parc des Princes this week. 

Asked whether both Mustafi and Perez could be involved against PSG on Saturday, Wenger told Arsenal’s website: 

“I have to decide that [if the new signings will be involved against PSG]. 

“We will see how everyone is tomorrow morning. For Tuesday, we might just have Gibbs coming back, who was not in the squad today. It’s possible they are in the squad.” 

Arsenal are aiming to improve their recent record in the Champions League this season. 

The Gunners have not progressed past the last 16 stage of Europe’s elite club competition for the last six years and will be desperate to put that right this term.
