Barcelona considering Legal action action against Santos

Barcelona have confirmed they are considering legal action against Brazil outfit Santos over striker Gabriel Barbosa’s transfer to Inter. 

The Spanish champions argue that they had a preferential agreement with the Brazilian club for the striker who is known as Gabigol, but the 20-year-old ended up completing a move to Serie A in late August. 

Leaked documents reveal that Barca had a signed agreement with Santos in 2013 that allowed the Spanish club to have three days to decide whether to match an offer from another club. 

But Barca were only given one day to assess Inter’s offer after being informed by Santos on August 29. 

"The club are in a legal process,” said Barca’s director of professional sports Albert Soler. 

"We had a preferential option on the player which wasn’t complied with by Santos. 

"We’re studying all the legal possibilities to take the case forward, but it’s a legal matter, not a sporting one.’
