Edinson Cavani accepts blame for PSG failing to beat Arsenal in Champions League

Edinson Cavani has accepted the blame for Paris Saint-Germain failing to beat Arsenal in the Champions League on Tuesday. 

The Uruguayan opened the scoring against the Gunners within a minute of kick-off on Tuesday night. 

However, he missed a number of chances to extend PSG's lead and even fired wide of an empty net after rounding goalkeeper David Ospina. 

Arsenal went on to equalise later in the tie, and Cavani believed he was responsible for PSG not collecting all three points. 

"We played a great game. We played better than in the previous game in the league [a 1-1 draw against Saint-Etienne],' he said 

"There are many positive things [to take from the game]. But in the end, we pay dearly for our lack of consistency in front of the goal. 

"In this competition you have to win a lot of points. It was the first game and we must continue to play like we showed. 

"As I said before, I think we played a great game but we have to be better in front of goal. I take responsibility for it because I had the clearest opportunities."
