Manager Roberto Di Matteo responds to questions about his future

Roberto Di Matteo is confident he has the backing of owner Tony Xia ahead of another crunch fixture at Preston this weekend. 

The Villa boss has guided his side to just ten points from the opening ten games and pressure is building as the claret and blues sit in 17th-place. 

At his pre-match press conference today the Italian remained calm and relaxed.

“Everybody at the club is in full support of the team, myself and the management team because we all want the same,” he said. 

“I don’t feel under pressure from the chairman or the club at all. “I feel the pressure of delivering results and so do the players.” 

“The spirit within the group is good. It’s a united team,” added Di Matteo. “You can see that from the reaction from those on the bench when we score. It’s a united team that wants to do well. 

“It’s a team that is trying everything to be successful and is confident it will get to the end of the season in a good position."
