Neymar offered £650,000-a-week to leave Barcelona

Barcelona star Neymar was offered £650,000-a-week to join Paris Saint-Germain this summer, his agent claims. 

Wagner Ribeiro has revealed that the 24-year-old was offered a world record wage packet from the French champions in a bid to lure him away from Barcelona early in the transfer window. 

Neymar, who has also previously been linked with a move to Manchester United , signed a new five-year deal at the Nou Camp at the start of July, quashing all talk of a Barcelona exit. 

It is alleged that PSG, owned by Qatari billionaires, were willing to pay €190m (£160m) to secure his signature. 

Riberio says that Neymar was offered an annual salary of €40m (£33.8m) after tax, is a mammoth weekly sum of £650,000. 

“He was very close to PSG. He would have earned €40m a year, free,” Riberio told ESPN Brasil. 

“Neymar was also close to a move to Manchester United. But he renewed his contract for less money with Barcelona, because he wanted to stay in Barcelona.”
