Surprise stat shows Arsenal may finally have found Thierry Henry replacement in Sanchez

Some doubted whether or not Alexis Sanchez could really play up front for Arsenal, but his scoring stats for the club are virtually identical to Thierry Henry after the same number of games. 

Sanchez is on a superb run of form at the moment, and continued that as he gave the Gunners an early lead in their 3-0 win over Chelsea at the Emirates Stadium. 

That makes it five goals in his last five games for Sanchez, and an impressive total of 47 in 100 appearances for the club since his move from Barcelona in 2014.

Henry’s boots have proven difficult to fill at Arsenal, with the Frenchman still regarded as probably the club’s greatest ever player, and certainly the best striker to pull on the famous red and white shirt. 

Still, Sanchez is not far off matching him at the moment, with Henry managing 48 goals in the same period, just one more than the South American. 

According to OptaJoe stats, Alexis Sanchez's scored 47 goals in his 100 apps for @Arsenal, one fewer than Thierry Henry (48) in his 1st 100 apps for the club. Ace. 

If Sanchez carries on like this, he surely represents Arsenal’s best chance in a decade of truly replacing Henry up front.
