Petr Cech has stated that securing Arsenal’s fifth win in a row against Burnley on Sunday was the best way to celebrate Arsene Wenger’s 20th anniversary as Gunners boss.
Cech played in the fixture that fell on the same weekend as Wenger celebrated two decades in charge of the north London outfit.
The Gunners boss officially assumed the Arsenal manager’s job on 1 October 1996 after leaving Japanese club Nagoya Grampus.
“I think it’s the best way to mark this anniversary with a win,” Cech told the Mirror.“They were brilliant, Burnley; it was a very tough match. I don’t care really if it was not a good goal. This is a vital three points.”
Wenger has won three Premier League titles, six FA Cups and six community shields in his time in north London.
Despite last winning a league title in 2004, the former Monaco boss is widely regarded as one of the best managers in world football.
Wenger is now the longest serving manager in the Premier League but could be nearing the end of his time with Arsenal after suggesting he would one day like to manage the England national team.
