Everton winger Yannick Bolasie has suffered a devastating blow after his season was ended by anterior cruciate ligament damage.

Bolasie had played all 15 games, scoring once, for the club since he moved to Goodison Park for a club record fee £30million in August.

He was injured following a tackle from Antony Martial during Sunday’s 1-1 draw with Manchester United and looked to be in significant pain after he fell awkwardly to the floor.

Bolasie underwent scans immediately after the game and received the results he feared when he arrived at the club’s Finch Farm training base on Monday.

His right knee is in a brace and he remains on crutches. It means Bolasie will now been forced to undergo surgery in the next few days.

Aside from missing the remainder of the campaign, he will denied the opportunity to play for Congo at the Africa Cup of Nations.

The news could not have come at a worse moment for Ronald Koeman, whose side have won only one of their last 10 matches in all competitions and now face games against Watford, Arsenal and Liverpool before Christmas.
