Video Assistant Referee (VAR) system, which is being fully implemented for the first time at the Club World Cup has some technological features you should know about.
There are four aspects of the match which can go to video review they are:
Goals - potential infringements in the build-up, offsides, handballs and anything else which might have contributed to one team getting the ball in the back of the net.
Penalties - revising decisions, reversing incorrectly awarded spot-kicks and awarding them when a foul has been missed.
Red cards - all aspects can be looked at to help the referee come to the correct decision.
Mistaken identity - VARs can inform the referee on the odd occasion the wrong player is punished for another's foul.
