Jurgen Klopp calls on defence to help out keeper Loris Karius

Jurgen Klopp has called on Liverpool's defence to raise their standards as a collective and take the heat off Loris Karius. 

'You see with us, not a lot of teams play build-up, it's long balls. And when you win the second balls, it is still pretty close. If you lose it, they are behind the line. 

'We have improved a lot in a lot of parts of defending yet we are still conceding. It only helps if we all do better. If you have a goalkeeper and you let them shoot from everywhere, it doesn't change. 

'We have to avoid this as a team and we do avoid it very often. Defending starts in the offensive situation.
